Nothing gets done alone, so I’m excited to support policies that improve our city. Here are some issue areas that I remain focused on.

  • As a woman and as the mom of two young children, a safe community is one of my top priorities. Over the past three years, I have worked diligently to address public safety concerns in our community. I have collaborated with law enforcement, attended numerous community meetings, and supported initiatives aimed at improving safety for all residents. While on council I have supported the implementation of the Flock Safety Camera System, supported federal funding for Alternative Response Teams for when a police officer isn’t needed for a mental health crisis, and also supported the rollout of the Emergency Mobile Opioid Treatment Everett (EMOTE) which helps people who are struggling with opioid addiction. I was selected to serve as the liaison for the Mayor’s Drug Taskforce which convened last year and was part of the development of policy recommendations to support individuals who are in need of support to break free from addiction.

I also deeply recognize that an individual’s life chances are a result of what’s available for their life choices. I will continue to advocate for underserved communities to have access to quality early learning, affordable housing, human services supports, and living wage jobs to ensure that everyone in Everett can achieve stability and success.

While I'm proud of the progress we've made, I recognize that there is still more work to be done. I am dedicated to continuing this important work and ensuring that our community remains a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.

On the Council, I will continue to invest in solutions that get results and improve the health and safety of our communities.

  • As the daughter of a small business owner, I have a deep appreciation and understanding of the love, sweat, and tears that goes into running a small business. I often hear from residents that our downtown core is “on the verge of a renaissance” and it’s been a focus of mine to ensure that our downtown businesses have the support that they need to flourish. During my first term in office, I was proud to provide $25,000 in COVID Relief Dollars to the Downtown Everett Association to support their storefront grants programs. Helping downtown business owners recover from the economic impacts of COVID was a campaign promise when I first ran, and I will continue to support initiatives that help full vacancies downtown, address parking issues, and support the economic vitality of our county’s urban center.

Arts and culture are important to me and I was proud to utilize my leadership roles as the Chair of the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee and Council Liaison to the Cultural Arts Commission to ensure that the city continues to be a leader in the arts community. We are so lucky to have such a great arts and culture scene in this city and it helps make Everett the wonderful city we all enjoy. I remain committed to using my voice on council to support arts and culture in Everett.

  • During my time working for the Affordable Housing Program at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle, I learned the difference between housing that’s affordable and affordable housing. People experiencing homelessness are not the only ones struggling with affordable housing. Everett also has a lack of available housing that is affordable to middle-income earners. That’s why on the City Council, I have focused on incentivizing the development of duplexes, triplexes, and other moderate multi-family housing developments. For the past three years I have served on the Human Development Committee through the National League of Cities. This committee helps inform federal policies that address housing and homelessness across the nation. During meetings with federal agencies I shared stories from people in Everett who struggle with housing and then advocated for changes in federal policies that would impact people right here in Everett.

The ability to afford housing is often contingent on having a living wage job. I have persistently advocated for workforce development policies and programs that help young people and adults reentering the workforce to access stable jobs and careers. At the forefront of this work is the legislation that I passed which bars any contractor who has willfully engaged in wage theft from being able to contract with the city for five years from the date of infraction. This enhanced penalty sends a clear message to contractors: you will not have a seat at the negotiating table if you steal from Everett workers. When re-elected I will work to expand wage theft penalties across the city.

With your continued support, we can continue to chip away at the affordable housing crisis at every level and ensure working families and seniors can afford to remain in Everett.

  • North Everett is surrounded on three sides by waterways and includes an estuary, the sound, streams, a gulch, urban forests, and an abundance of other natural formations. During my first term in office, I fulfilled my campaign promise to Save Wood Creek. As the largest urban forest in Everett, it was important to ensure that this area remains protected and I am proud to have worked with City Administration to ensure that it would not be sold to developers.

The City of Everett has nearly 1,000 acres of park land and I have worked diligently to help support playground replacements, protections of open space, and increase the urban tree canopy across our city. With updates to the 2044 Comprehensive Plan on the horizon, I have prioritized environmental stewardship while balancing the needs for more housing and growth accommodations. When re-elected I will continue this work to ensure that our city retains its natural beauty.

There are many ways that the city can incorporate environmental justice to planning and growth decisions. I’d love to hear from you about ways that the city can work to be not just environmentally friendly, but environmental champions.

  • As the wife of a Navy and State Air National Guard veteran, I am keenly aware of the seen and unseen scars that our veterans carry as a result of their service and deployments. I am so grateful for the service members and veterans who call Everett home and see it as my duty to honor their commitment not just on Veterans Day, but all year long. When re-elected, I will continue to work to ensure that additional considerations are given to veterans in our community, to address the challenges that they face when returning to civilian life.

A lot of important issues impact us all in different ways. I’m always more than happy to talk with folks about what impacts them the most.

If there’s anything that I’ve missed here, or that you would like to talk more in depth, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. I am committed to being accessible so that we can collaborate on ideas, and that starts with a conversation.
